Final Music Video
)
This is our music video finished, which I felt had aspects that were executed extremely well. Though on reflection there are still things that we could have improved.
Positives:
-The most effective part of the video is the monochrome filter, which fits the genre of music and conventions found in those music videos.
-I believe the kaleidoscope filter also gave the 'trippy' feel that we wanted to present, again being a part of alternative hip hop visuals
-The point of view shots, long and mid shots in the tunnel and the extreme close up of Brandon's mouth were all successful shots due to the accuracy, creativity and artistic direction.
Negatives:
-The abrupt ending to the song almost ruins what was an extremely effective ending. It cuts the song before the end and a fade would have been more appropriate.
-I don't feel we had an excessive amount of footage which is a good idea to have because it gives you a better foundation to edit from. The more footage the better.

Closing Statement
Music video's have always been an interest to me and something I wished to have full direction over. I felt this year was a multitude of creative freedom, artists response, interesting research and much more. This allowed me to research a genre of music that I had lots of previous knowledge, along with filming something abstract and arty. Amongst the creative aspects the theorists and concepts also brought into the projects allowed me to have a deeper understanding of target audiences, what's expected in a music video and structures of a video. This really gave me an insight into the knowledge that had to come alongside the vision I may have had in order for it to be successful. The website and digipak also brought something new to Media Studies that truly excited me. Overall I feel I have learnt, understood and created some extremely interesting and though provoking things. Isn't that what a lot of the media sphere is about?

Flickr Photostream
enidakuffo's photostream on Flickr.
I took these images for the digipak and website. These are the collective images which we then chose the best shots, edited and applied to the correct products. It was important for us to gather a range of images in order to select the most appropriate images. It also gave us some more images to put on the website as 'behind the scenes' and 'introduction to the artists'.
Rough Edit
This is our rough edit of our music video. We still had our main scene to film which we were unable to do due to weather. Instead we decided to add bloopers to our video, this being on our website showed the production stages of creating the video. Again building a behind the scenes aspect in which fans would appreciate.
We decided to film in colour before 'the trip' and then monochrome after in order to represent the use of drugs rather than being too explicit in glamorizing acid/LSD.
So far I believe we have some very creative and well though out shots which will be enhanced with the rest of the footage
Website Analysis
This was a presentation exploring typical conventions of the genre we were creating the music video for. It was crucial to research other established artists websites in order to reflect this on to our website. It gave us an idea of colour schemes, fonts, images, interaction which influenced our designs an ideas. It also gave us a clear indication on what we need to include on our site, like a photo gallery, contact, tour dates etc.
Digipak draft sketch
These are initial Digipak ideas that I sketched. The white rabbit face on the front is the main concept of our video as that is what triggered the trip. It then has the artists and album name. In the middle we looked at sticking to the original Alice in Wonderland theme, which also fitted the trippy imagery that is often found within alternative hip hop. Minimalistic text was used due our fairly 'busy' use of images. Also we wanted a striking front cover which is why we kept it quite simple.
Digipak photo description
Above is a table showing a description of the photo's we will be including in our Digipak. I have incorporated the date in which we are aiming to shoot the photo and what props will be required if any, this will aid to improve our time management and preparation. However slightly more detail could have been added so there was no misunderstanding about what shoots were needed exactly and of who.
Production Logo
Above is our final logo, this was created using photoshop and will be used as a way for our audience to quickly identify our company as it will be visible on all merchandise and production work done by the group. In terms of ideas for the logo, we thought it would be best to incorporate iconic colours that are associated with this type of genre of music, alternative music. As shown, we decided to use black and white as they are simplistic yet trendy colours which we have used throughout our music video, aiding consistency. The company name 'SOLAR' has a direct link to our logo image, which again conforms to our choice of colour, giving us an effective logo which is likely to catch the eye of our target audience.
Production Diary
This is a short clip displaying technical difficulties that experience this filming this day, by filming this we can then see if this impacts our final product. This is also a way for us to be able to reflect upon during our evaluation in order to see what went well and how this could have been improved, these things also have a direct link to how effective our product is as obstacles that occur may impact on this.
Production Diary 1
Production Diary, Day 1
This displays what went well and not so well on our first day of filming. Evidently weather being an uncontrollable factor impacted on our filming, along with difficulties with the camera white balance and lenses. This is a good way of us being able to reflect on both positives and negatives of each day.

EDITING TO THE BEAT
This is my editing to the beat experiment. This helped to understand the importance of having the right scenes in response to the music. It allowed me to focus on listening to the music so the visuals and sound married together well. If this is not executed well it can feel as if the timing of the visuals is either too fast or too slow. It is an important aspect of editing to learn as it will help when I come to editing my music video to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
